 It is common knowledge that popular and mainstream news sources such as ABC, Fox, or CNN produce and publish very biased stories. With that, we typically watch or subscribe to news channels that are putting out  the type of news we know that we want to hear. For example, CNN is known to be a station that has built a reputation of traditional liberal-leaning coverage so it is more likely for someone who classifies as a liberal to watch CNN. News stations have a way of taking one story and publishing it in completely different and biased ways based upon what they know their audience wants to hear.  After browsing and looking at the following antiwar websites, https://www.antiwar.com and https://www.theamericanconservative.com , it is not surprising to me in the slightest that I do not see this kind of information on mainstream news.       Various forms of communication date back as far as time. It is crazy to see how vastly communication has transformed from what it was to what it is. In my opinion, we can thank technology and the internet for that. More specifically, Google. Google is know to be the largest and most popular search engine in the world. So as many of you may be wondering, how did it all start?       The Google search engine was created in 1996 by two students from Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. (Pictured below) Initially, it started out with the name “BackRub”, named for the analysis of the web’s “back links”.           After reviewing all eight speech theories provided, the one that I feel resonated with me the most is Individual Self-Fulfillment (aka Self-Actualization) created by C. Edwin Baker (pictured to the left). Baker was a leading First Amendment scholar who focused primarily on human liberty and freedom of speech. His influential novel entitled ironically enough,   "Human Liberty and Freedom of Speech" , argued that "the primary justification for freedom of expression rests on protecting human liberty- the liberty theory- rather than the traditional market place of ideas." This idea has a great sense of value to me because I feel that free speech is something we are very lucky to have as United States Citizens.        Free speech enables individuals to express themselves and thereby create their own identity.        After reading and analyzing the article provided from the History Channel , I learned a lot more about the Supreme Court than I had previously known.  As we all should know, the Supreme Court is the highest federal court in the country and the head of the United States Judicial branch. I did already know this, however I find it very interesting that once one of the justices are placed on the jury of the Supreme Court, they serve on the court until they die or retire. However, it is typically seen that they serve until death or they can no longer serve any longer.      A fact I learned that intrigued me is that the first court compromised of six justices. Congress then altered the number of Supreme Court Justice seats- from a low of five to a high of ten- six times over the years.  In 1869, Congress set the number to of seats to nine, where it has remained until today. My number one go-to source for news and information is Twitter . I really appreciate Twitter because of how accessible it is as well as how non-bias it can be as it allows you to see multiple sides and viewpoints on the subject of discussion. Twitter is great because it is a platform in which you can share news instantaneously to such a large sum of people. Furthermore, all of the mainstream news sources such as CNN, Fox News, ABC, etc. have accounts on the platform. Additionally, politicians, celebrities, and public figures are known to post frequently as well so being able to access so much information from such a large quantity of sources on just one platform is extremely convenient and reliable.  My second preferred news source is Apple News.
