Blog #1: Top 5 Sources of News and Information


My number one go-to source for news and information is Twitter. I really appreciate Twitter because of how accessible it is as well as how non-bias it can be as it allows you to see multiple sides and viewpoints on the subject of discussion. Twitter is great because it is a platform in which you can share news instantaneously to such a large sum of people. Furthermore, all of the mainstream news sources such as CNN, Fox News, ABC, etc. have accounts on the platform. Additionally, politicians, celebrities, and public figures are known to post frequently as well so being able to access so much information from such a large quantity of sources on just one platform is extremely convenient and reliable. 



My second preferred news source is Apple News. I like Apple News mainly because of the convince. I own a variety of Apple products so being able to be notified and access the news anywhere I am is  awesome. Another great feature of Apple News is you can share news articles and stories with your friends very easily. there is also a tab on the application where you can view all of the news articles that you have shared and that have been shared with you so you can see those without having to search for them. You can also follow certain news stations and organize them in any way you would like to have them displayed. Additionally, I really like the large variety of categories they provide. For example, some of my favorites that I have tabbed on the app include Entertainment, Movies, Celebrities, Food, and News & Observer. 




Thirdly, I am a big fan of CNN. CNN Worldwide is known to be the most respectable and honored brand in cable news. I am confident in obtaining my information from CNN given it reaches more individuals on television and online than any other cable news organization in the United States. Additionally, CNN International is the most widely distributed news channel. If it has an audience that large, it has to be a network in which we can all trust and follow up with. 



While some people may disagree with me on this one, TikTok has become one of my new favorite news sources as of recently. As many know, TikTok has grown an exponential amount over the past few years. While the app is known to mostly be for creating fun videos with friends, people have been slowly changing how they use the app. In this case, increasingly as a source of news. I like getting my news from TikTok because of how many different sides and explanations there are on different subjects. Not only that, but it is so easy to search for trending hashtags. The amount of information you will find is incredible. 



Lastly, I also like to follow up with Fox News. Even though Fox News is known to be somewhat biased towards the Republican Party, it is important to me to be able to hear all sides to a trending topic in the news.

Blog #10: In the age of AI

         What is artificial intelligence you may ask? AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions.  After watching the documentary about Artificial Intelligence, I learned an incredible amount of information that I had not known previously. Blog #9: Echo Chamber

      You may be thinking, what is an echo chamber? According to GFC Global , an echo chamber is "An environment where a person only encounters information or opinions that reflect and reinforce their own." Echo chambers can also create misinformation and distort a persons perspective so they have difficulty considering opposing viewpoints and discussing complicated topics.  It is important to note, echo chambers can be found anywhere, whether that be online or in real life.      It can be very difficult to recognize an echo chamber, especially if you are in one.
